The San Fernando Market celebrates Canary Islands Week with Desde Canarias
2026/05/25

From May 26th to 31st, Desde Canarias transforms the San Fernando Market into an authentic corner of the archipelago in the heart of Lavapiés. For a full week, we will bring the culture, products, and gastronomy of the islands to the people of Madrid through concerts, tastings, and a comprehensive Canarian food tour.

The program will grow in intensity day by day, turning the market into a meeting point to discover the flavors, music and traditions of the Canary Islands.

The week will kick off on Tuesday, May 26th, with a tasting of Canarian wines organized in collaboration with Volcanic Xperience and GMR. Guided by sommelier Iván Monreal at the El Perenquén stand, attendees will discover the unique characteristics of the volcanic wines produced in the islands.

On Wednesday the 27th, it will be the turn of Canarian cheeses, with a tasting dedicated to exploring the diverse cheeses of the archipelago, island by island. On Thursday the 28th, actress Cyntia Centol will liven up the market with a large-scale interactive quiz about Canarian words, culture, and products, designed to test and share knowledge about the islands among all attendees.

The weekend will mark the highlight of the celebration. On Friday the 29th, the Canarian gastronomic route will begin, in which the various market stalls will reinterpret their best recipes using Canarian products as the star ingredient. The day will culminate with a concert by Keise Lee, who will perform songs by great singer-songwriters from the islands, such as Pedro Guerra and Rosana.

On Saturday, May 30th, Canary Islands Day, the gastronomic route will continue, and the market will be filled with island atmosphere, featuring lively music and traditional Canarian cuisine. Finally, on Sunday the 31st, we'll bring the week to a close with a great collective challenge: making the largest gofio ball in Madrid to share one of the archipelago's most emblematic flavors with all our visitors.
