The San Fernando Market will be decked out in Canarian style from May 26th to 31st to celebrate Canary Islands Week, organized by Desde Canarias . For six days, this iconic space in the Lavapiés neighborhood of Madrid will transform into the epicenter of island culture on the Iberian Peninsula, with a program that combines tastings of volcanic wines , samplings of award-winning cheeses , traditional cooking workshops , live concerts , and much more.

Tuesday, May 26
The Canary Islands week begins
- 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM · Tasting of Canarian wines
Led by sommelier Iván Monreal , who will give a talk on the volcanic wines of the archipelago. A glass of wine and a tapa are available for €6. A free Canarian product will be given to those who purchase a tapa. Location: El Perenquén
Wednesday, May 27
Cheeses and traditional cuisine
- 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM · Cooking workshop
With the help of Cocina Conversa (local stall 47). We will learn to prepare almogrote with cured Canarian cheese, accompanied by gofio and a welcome glass of Canarian wine. - 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM · Cheese tasting
Presented by Anton with cheeses from Perenquén . Glass + tapa pack for €6. Free Canarian product for those who purchase the tapa.
Thursday, May 28
Contest Night
- 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM · Great Perenquén Quiz
A quiz showcasing Canarian knowledge and lots of fun. €400 in food vouchers will be awarded (40 vouchers worth €10 each) to be redeemed at market stalls on May 29, 30, and 31.
Friday, May 29
Great presentation and live music
- 13:00 – 14:30 h · Official presentation and tasting
A journey through the best of Canarian cuisine: a glass of ribs with pineapple and escaldón (a Canarian stew) , freshly sliced roasted pork leg , potatoes with mojo sauce , almogrote ( a Canarian cheese spread), and a selection of Canarian wines . In attendance were influencers, opinion leaders, political representatives from the Canary Islands, representatives from Madrid's markets, city councils, and media outlets. - 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM · Keisy Lee Concert
Acoustic performance without amplification, to enjoy Canarian music in its most intimate version.
Saturday, May 30
Party and festive atmosphere
- 12:00 – 14:00 h · Canary Island party with Keisy Lee
Live folk music and tasting of Canarian products to experience the most authentic atmosphere of the islands in the heart of Madrid.
Sunday, May 31
A traditional ending
- 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. · Pella de gofio
We're wrapping up Canary Islands Week with one of the archipelago's most iconic dishes, courtesy of Perenquén . A delicious way to bring the celebrations to a close.
